Well I remember the days when getting a sim card or getting a phone for that matter was a great achievement or possession in itself. I briefly remember how I got my first phone, the most basic one indeed where calling and messaging were the only features that were used in a phone. And now the times have changed and I believe they have changed for the good. A lot of people criticize and may oppose this and rather blame it on adoption of western culture, but I am of a different opinion and I believe this change has got us good and progress. I am so glad to have a smart phone today, a phone which is really smart in all aspect, be it calling or messaging I can use them at minimal costs, thanks to yet another development in the field of technology, we now have Internet. An internet which does not function at the speed of a rabbit but a speed which is tremendously good and can now help download movies and videos at an unbelievably great speed.

With the birth of Airtel 4G, I think we have made a great progress and achievement. Today watching a video on YouTube or surfing the internet to get directions, it is all possible with Airtel 4G. I personally am a great fan of English serials and enjoy watching them especially while I am travelling. Why are all healthy diets so boring in taste and why is that they are not as good as the junk? If only broccoli and brinjal tasted as good as panner tikkas and pizzas then one would never have to worry about eating healthy food. This is because the taste buds easily help gulp down such foods. I was putting on unnecessary weight and that’s when I thought I should take up to crash dieting. Since I was so busy with work I did not bother going to the dietitian, I just took up to crash dieting where I survived only on liquids. I ate nothing all day round. It had an adverse effect on my body as I worked for so long and since I would not eat anything, my body had absolutely no energy and no stamina. I started to feel very weak and that’s when I realized that it’s time I took a day off and consulted a doctor.

When I did so, I was told that eating a balanced diet is the way to a healthy body. A balanced and a healthy diet includes eating fruits, vegetables, green leafy vegetables, less of potato, more of spinach, drinking loads of juice, avoiding sugar, etc. Sugar is present in large quantities in aerated drinks and that’s why they are considered to be bad for our health. As expected the eyes were more on when the batsman hits a six and less on when the bride and the bride groom take the wedding vows.

It is indeed amazing to have a company with you. It makes thing work better and much wiser. It not only reduces the work but also there is an exchange of thoughts, creativity and lots more. This time I had a chance to collaborate with my blogger friend for this lovely activity by Garnier called the #TwiceAsNice.

This activity started off by sending us samples of the two products which when used together would make our skin twice as nice. The idea was of writing up an article in collaboration with a friend for the very same reason – it would be twice as nice in this case.

The power of two is really great. It actually is a lot of fun to do things in a team than doing them alone. There is exchange of ideas which will help both the people to prosper equally. The power of two is such that it makes anything twice as nice.

REFRESHING BREAKFAST

One must always ensure that a healthy diet helps one live a
healthy life and a healthy living. And hence a healthy meal is what is most
important for a healthy living. When it comes to food, one must never

the morning Nashta or breakfast which is the first meal of the day. I am sure

valid and important reason why people say this. The reason is because that is

When it comes to my breakfast I prefer starting my day with
some refreshing food, like fruits and some healthy dry fruits is what I would
prefer my day to start with. I am a milk lover and so all milk products are

it helps me with the required strength and stamina to keep me on my toes all

SHOPPING

Happiness is for me shopping, when it comes to that one thing that can make me happy or instantly make me forget all my worries, it is shopping. Well to precisely say the retail therapy never fails, and especially with the female gender, it can never go wrong. So to describe my happiness all I can say is, that shopping it is that brings that smile on my face. Be in times when I want to celebrate or the times when I just need a time out, or a day off, all I think of is shopping. I enjoy shopping to an extent that sometimes I even wonder that the movie, Shopaholic was based upon my life. :-p

Well, jokes apart my mantra of happiness is shopping. Even if it involves shopping for the silliest and pettiest thing, I enjoy it to the core. I love the entire process of going to different shops, giving my eyes the pleasure of witnessing beautiful creations and what best can be the way to appreciate this beauty than just purchasing them. One must learn to appreciate good work, is what I as taught back in school and I truly abide by it, by going on a shopping spree.

So, to tell you more about my shopping love, I am that person who can shop till they drop. Shopping is my ultimate love and rather my first love. From college days to my current working days, shopping has always been by my side. Off late online shopping is the one, which has caught my attention and has got me so attracted to its  charm, that every time I open my phone, I don’t forget to check out the latest deals on the app, and to add an icing to the cake, I almost every time indulge in shopping it. The very concept of online shopping attracts me all the more, because there is a lot of excitement which is attached to the concept. One has to patiently wait for the product to arrive and then when the product arrives it is more a like a surprise gift that has arrived, although you know what the product is, yet there is that spark of excitement attached to it. As the product arrives, there is that excitement and anxiety to see what has come and how the product looks like. And hence I say online shopping has added that new zeal and enthusiasm to my happiness. It gives me that extra dose of happiness at the click of a button, without even going to the malls or shopping centres, one can bring happiness instantly.

Well so here goes my mantra of happiness and this my way of bringing happiness to my life and also happiness to the life of my dear and near ones. (I do consider buying stuff for my dear ones as well, rarely though :-p

But but my hair? I wanted to hide my ugly hair. My frizzy hair. My dull hair. My dry hair.

Optimism is the key to good and happy life. Optimism is the essence of a good life. It takes absolutely nothing away if you try to find good in the bad and happiness in sorrow, it would make things a lot easier, trust me. Well it’s obviously not as easy it may seem but with a family like mine it is all seems like a bed of roses. This is about how I am gifted and blessed by god.

It is a saying that your parents are your creator, your god. Not only is my existence because of them but they are also the reason of living to me. They in the true sense are the reason why I am alive, the reason why I am so optimistic and they are my real motivation and my true inspiration.

I was born and breaded in beautiful Spain that was the home to me. I could not have thought of moving out from this place. I absolutely love being there, the NRI tag that I got just added up to all the pleasures and joys of staying there. Like how it is in a Cinderella story, I had all the comforts. I was surrounded by all the best things of the world.

It was till this one fine day when my father decided that he wanted to shift back to our native place, India. This decision he took because he had his old parents to take care of and also a whole business that needed my Dad to be there. I did understand the reason but still at the moment in time, I was hypnotised or rather frozen. I thought that was the end of my so called “good life”. I had grown up with my friends there, I was born and brought up as per the culture there. Not that I didn’t understand why my father had to take this decision but I was very scared.  I was completely shattered. I didn’t know how to react then but all I knew was that it was certain. The decision of moving from this beautiful country was final, my Dad had already taken the call.

 Then we finally moved to India. I was apprehensive but my parents were my strength they told me that as long as we are #together we may not have all but together we have it all. My family are my parents they are my pillar, my strength. They are the ones whom I can fall back on, on whom I can completely rely and to whom I can entrust my all.

They in the true sense are the purpose and inspiration to my living.

Today I am happy that the shift bought so much more to us. We are always together in our good and bad because home is where the heart is.

Life is about moving on. Life is about finding ways to live. Life is about changing and adapting changes. Life is to constantly grow and to change for the better. Every day is a new beginning. Every minute there is a new learning. What is important is to learn from life. To learn that life is not constant. Life moves on. Time and tide wait for no man. If life has given you failure watch out there will be success following it.

I happened to visit this my Grandmother’s place just recently and what she told me truly motivated me. She said that God is always going to be there for us, no matter what. So of in times of your joy you see four feet- two will be yours and the others will be God’s but in times of your sorrow you might just see two feet. I was puzzled, I wondered why? I wondered why would God leave us alone in time sorrow and be with us in your happiness. To this she replied that those two feet won’t be ours but God’s. God will carry us in his arms during the time of sorrow because it’s the almighty who would stay with us through our thick and thin.

What I learnt was that life is about moving on and with what my Grandmother had to teach me I learnt that no matter what, irrespective of whether others will be there for us not. God will always be our strength. With this thought in my mind, I decided to embark a new beginning or rather #StartANewLife.

I had recently had a break up. I was in a relationship for more than 5 years and this break up wasn’t mutual. I stilled him but he had moved on. I cried every day. I had sleepless nights. I had given up on life. I wondered what could have gone wrong. What could it be that forced him to break a 5 year old relationship? I cursed myself for this. I not only gave up on my friends and secluded myself from the group but also I started to remain locked in my room so that I didn’t have to face my family who would have millions of questions to ask.

But I realized that nobody in our life is going to stay forever. People come and people go and life is just a show. Nothing lasts forever so a five year old relationship ended because maybe somewhere God would have something better planned for me. I have moved on in life. I have moved on from that phase of life where all that mattered was him. I have realized that I am stronger than my sorrows and grief. I have learnt the way of life. I have learnt that life is about moving on and starting a new every time there is a downfall.

A child is a mother’s creation is they say, but I believe in the complete opposite. I would rather say, it is a child who gives birth to a mother. Yes, a child is the one who gives birth to a mother and motherhood. A woman is complete they say, when she is a mother. I truly believe in this and now feel immense satisfaction when I go through the same phase in my life. A woman moves through various cycles of life, from being a daughter, to a sister, to being a wife and then ultimately being a mother. Motherhood is the best thing that happens to a woman. A woman is given this gift by god that she gives birth to a child. I personally believe it requires immense strength and will power to bear a child for nine months. Because the child lives through you and vice versa. The nine months that a child lives in the mother’s womb, the child connects to the mother. A child breathes through the mother, it eats, and lives through the mother. And hence I say motherhood is the best thing that happens to a woman and gives birth to a beautiful relationship what they call of a child and parent.

Child finds joy in little and simple things. Like the simplest of things makes a child happy, for instance even a small sweet that somebody gets for a child makes a child very happy. If their favorite poetry is narrated somewhere, they feel a part of it and start to join in. This is not something that a grown up can do. Once when we grow up, we change. We become more world oriented than self - oriented. We start to think about what others have to say and what others will think about our actions.

I remember when I was a kid, I always said that I want to grow up fast but now that I am all grown up I do realize that my life as a kid was a lot better than what it is now. No tension, no worry only happiness and joys in little things. How I wish I could lead such a life even today but well only the little ones are fortunate.
So it is utmost important that now that we are grown up and realize how crucial and how joyful our yester years were, we do the best for the little ones. Right from ensuring that they have their meals on time and to making sure that they sleep well. For them to sleep well, it is important that their diaper remains dry. Be positive

Be positive. Failure is only a stepping stone to success. Don’t give up and what not? How often do we come across these sayings? Looks like everybody in this world has something or the other to teach us. The real question is how many actually mean it, how many actually be positive, how many actually don’t give up and how many can actually take failures?

Well I can say with a lot of pride that I am one such person. I am very optimistic.

Here is my story of optimism-

I have been looking for a change in job since the past one year now. Initially there were no calls and absolutely no interviews. I wondered why? I did everything that I needed to, I updated my resume, put it on the job portals but to my bad luck I used to get no interview calls. People blamed the poor job market.  I thought to myself that I just wanted a change, a better job but there were people who had none. I waited patiently.

Finally after a few months I started getting the much awaited calls, this didn’t happen on its own. It happened after I crossed the limit of the maximum jobs one can apply on naukri.com. Now came the interview rounds. Every time I gave an interview I thought I would get selected and would wait for their call or joining mail but I would end up dejected. I would have given more than 10 interviews in a month but I did not even get selected in one. There was a point in life, where I wanted to give up and said that may be I am not a deserving person enough to get a good Job. A good corporate job, a job in one of those sky scrapper building is what I had always dreamt of and for some reason that dream felt only like dream and I almost felt that it would never turn into reality. I did it all from job portals to meeting new people every day to calling up those references or contacts that I once made and met them only so that I could take help from them one such day, unfortunately nothing seemed to be in my favor. I kept giving interviews and I kept failing at it.

I got calls from few best places and few worst places, I ensured I go for all and try my luck everywhere, only to get more disheartened each time. However once a point, where I had almost given up and that came is when my mother came up to me and reminded me of my own story that had occurred when I was in standard 9^th. I was always bad with mathematics and so I had failed in the subject and was given one chance as a re-attempt case to move to the 10^th standard. I remember then, I had practiced math like crazy and decided I would not give up, for the shame of being behind my friends and also for the fact that I was not so weak in life that one such thing would take me behind or not let me move ahead. She made me recall my words then, I had promised to her that mom, I would not give up on math and I will move ahead. She told me to repeat those words again this time and I said it to her this time again, mom I will not give up. This attitude of mine, let me move ahead even after so many failures, I am today with a job in one of those sky scrapper buildings that I had only dreamt of and in one of the best companies. Thanks to my mother who bought me up with this never dying attitude and filled me with optimism every time I was low.

It is not about philosophy but the certainty of life which
shows you ups and down and thats how the graph of one’s life is. As a kid I
always use to wonder what my dad did to buy us happiness, the lovely house we
stayed in, the four wheels that made the unruly road goes as smooth as butter.
Until one day when it was battle that my family lost. That was the turning
point in my life when I had to be the roots of my family tree. He has always
nurtured the thought of giving better life every moment. He always thought that
it is one life and we must make it large.

All of us have gone thru some situation in life that has
changed the way it looked, I was not even an adult, not 18 I thought why it
came so early. But my mother was the branch that stood right and let the
flowers blossom my little sisters. My mother guided me in every walk of life
and she is the creator of the woman I am today.

She has made me independent not only financially but also a
decision maker, my father had taken the right decisions which helped us grow
strength to strength. His saving, where there even after he was not around, I
completed my graduation did my further studies today I can support the family I
am a responsible sister a great daughter and above a good person.

This is a learning that life is not how one thinks it to be,
yet another learning of one’s life that no school or college can impart this is
the education given by my parents to make me self-reliant to fall and rise on
my own to make me learn to balance is the art.

Mother is somebody who knows us in and out. She knows what
we want, what we desire and what our basic need is. My mother has been rock
solid for me. She in the true sense is my life support. She knows when I need
her shoulder to cry and her eyes are stern when I need a lesson. She has made
me a self- reliant person. What I am today or rather where I am today is only
and only because of her guidance and mentoring. She in true sense is my guide
and my mentor.

I take this opportunity today to thank my mother today who
has truly believed in apno ko apne dump e jeena sikhao and helped me grow and
become a better and a more self - reliant person.

BedTime Rituals

Bedtime is important to each one of us and in fact the most important time during the day. As this the time our body gets the required fuel to keep moving all throughout the day and keeps us on the move. Hence I believe that bedtime is the most crucial time for every human being, so now when it comes to the health and well-being of our little ones, compromise is just not the word. When you are a mother, the most important thing for you becomes the time when the child is at peace and when your child is able to enjoy a goodnight sleep.

I am sure, you are all wondering, why the emphasis on the night time sleep, well the answer to this is simple, because a goodnight’s sleep, helps your child stay fit and active all throughout the day. A mother literally dances with joy when she sees her child happy and active and playing around. That feeling makes a mother content of the upbringing she is giving her child.

So let us see, what all rituals are part of a child’s bedtime, I personally have a lot to share and here goes a few of them. From storytelling to singing the lullaby we have done it all to put your child to a proper and peaceful sleep. But one should not forget the most vital thing here, which is the diapers. Yes, diapers, they are the most important element part of the entire process of putting your child to sleep. 

Let me explain this to you in simple terms, now take it as this that you are an adult and who is asked to sleep with the feeling that you are most uncomfortable with. For example, sleeping with the lights on, I am sure many of us cannot do that and will not get proper sleep. In a similar way, for a child the most uncomfortable feeling is to sleep with that irritation and wet feeling due to frequent urination. As a child, cannot speak and it is only with the actions of the child and the child’s behavior that a mother understands, what the child needs.  And as a mother although you want to be awake all night and be there for your child, your body does not allow you to do so and so you also need to ensure you have a good night’s rest. And this is when the diapers do their work.

For me personally, diapers do the work, when I am off to bed to refuel my body. The diapers help your child enjoy that good night sleep without any disturbance and any irritation in the middle of the night. And so this is one of my bed time rituals that I follow by ensuring that my child is changed to a new diaper before he is put to sleep. This really helps my little one to enjoy his sleep without any irritation of that wet feeling or itching. Hello folks! How often are women subjected to one dimensional labels? It is very easy to categorise them and subject them to such labels! If you are a good housewife then you are not a good employee. If you are a fashion designer, you probably were never interested in your studies. I ask why? The world has changed, do people realize that? Do people realize that we are a lot better off than the yester generations? Do people realize that getting 90% does not necessarily mean that their child will take science despite being interested in commerce? We are no more stereo typical as we may be used to be earlier. The world has changed and everyone is gaining pace.

So here is my #UseYourAnd story. This is a story of a near and a dear one. She got married at an early age. Due to family pressure and a good rishta she agreed to get married. Well she did adjust to all the family norms. She abided by every family tradition very well. She although happy with her marriage always kept wondered of her identity? Her husband was a CEO and her brother-in-law an engineer. Her in-laws were part of NGOs and preferred spending most of their time there. Now the question was who was she? What was her identity?

It was six months later that she finally found answer to this question of hers. It was finally the day she realized that she could be more than just a housewife. She loved to be with her family, no doubts about that but all she wanted was an identity for herself to. This is when she put her degree to use and got herself a teachers job. It is the best she says it has suitable work timing. Nothing really has to suffer is what she confirms. Neither her work nor her house. Everyone in her family were also very happy with this decision of hers. She was the happiest of all because finally she was not just a housewife but now also a teacher. Because we women are not to be subjected to those on-dimensional labels, there is a lot more to us. 

Things that define me

There are a lot of things that make us who we are. It is not just our good looks that make us a good human being, right? It takes a lot of things to be a good human being like good nature, helping attitude, care and a lot of other things.

Well a lot of people say that what is difficult for human beings is to be human. My question is why? Why do we humans forget humanity? What is the purpose of our life if we cannot serve the society or do any good to mankind?

Well I am not a social worker or one of those women who spend evenings at the NGOs. I am somebody who cares for the society and who is human. Yes in my opinion, the first thing that should define anybody is humanity. We are all here for a purpose, if well we cannot serve the society where we live our very existence is pointless.

The next thing that defines me is my calm and patient nature. Well I have always believed that if you can talk and blabber you should also be ready to listen to the others. It is very important to be a good listener and I think I do hear people out. This I think is utmost important because misunderstandings happen mainly because the person did not listen to the other or refuse to do so. So hear people out, it’s a good thing to do. I am very calm and patient and this I have learnt from my mother. We women are quite often subjected to various quarrels or many a times these one dimensional labels. It is very easy for everybody to call us (women) names and try to categorize us. What is important is that we should not give up on our patience. Irrespective of what people say, we should stay determined and never lose our calm. I am not saying that don’t fight any argument or anything but all that I am saying is that hear people out, care less and be more determined.

Human, calm, kind and patient. This defines me as a woman.

Pimple Problem

Holla folks! Pimple here, pimple there, pimple everywhere. This is every teenager's story, ain't it?

Okay I do know that they are a part of growing up and all of that but still they make one look so ugly no! Everybody has had pimple problems and I am confident when I say that nobody likes or wants them. So pimples, when you all are so unwanted and hated, why don't you just go like go away and never come back you ugly thing!

It was a dream date. My long time crush had finally asked me out. I being a little shy couldn't take the first step so I waited until he did. Everything was set, it was all well planned. Right from what I was going to wear to what was I gifting him. We had decided to have our first date on a roof top of one of the best restaurants, a little over budget it was but he said that he had been planning this long. So it was all going very well and it was almost like a fairy tale.

Well well, every story has a villain. So was in my case. IT WAS A PIMPLE, a big and a ugly one. As I already mentioned I am a little shy anyway and with this pimple on my face I had just given up on my confidence. My morale was shattered. The day I had been waiting for since many years was finally here but this pimple just came in and shattered all my dreams. I didn't want to go on my first date with a pimple on my face. EWWW..

So I did what I still regret of. I cancelled the date :( I had to cancel my dream date only because of a pimple on my face. Never after that did we go on a date, he thought I was making excuses. Well boy! I too was dying to have that date with you (somebody please tell him)

Valentine, the very word brings that pink blush on our face. Valentine, the word just makes me think of one festival, and the festival is love. It may sound abnormal to say this that love is a festival but I truly believe it is. Because we human beings are so caught up in our daily life that we hardly celebrate what they call love.

Ever wondered, why is valentine so special? For many reasons is what I can say, for some it is remarked as a day when they first met, for some it is running back to the flashback of college days, for some it is celebration of togetherness, and for some it is just celebrating love.

Yes guys, love is a celebration, it is a feeling inside you which makes your world go around, it is that feeling that gets makes you want to run away from the situation at the same time face it, it is that feeling where you get chocked in the throat, but not because you are sad, rather because of the anxiety and excitement, it simply is a feeling of love.

So folks, when the season of love is awaiting us, what are we waiting for? And yes the answer is; for that perfect way to ask that someone special out. While for others it is the day where they are about to begin a new chapter in their life and this it is the peak of the love, where two souls unite and are put together in an institution what they call marriage. (Just to update you, my brother is getting married to his childhood bestie and now soon to be wife this valentine…I am so looking forward to a combo wedding with bong and Sindhi rituals!  J )

Well, coming back to this year’s valentine, all I can say is that I am all butterflies in the stomach right now. I know you are wondering why? Well, I am going to be proposing to my long time crush and also my college pal after 7 years of knowing him. They say love grows old and ages with time, which is truly what I believe in. Because this has really happened to me, I knew him (sorry I don’t want to disclose his identity); for the last 7 years, we were together from junior college days, and my liking for him grew only when time passed by. In the initial days, it was only talking to him, from there it moved on to hanging around together, further moved to that little (chintu – mintu liking); and now has come to a stage, where I feel confessing to him about my feelings feels the perfect thing to do! Only because they say, love is not a feeling to hide; rather let the world know that you are in love. And so, very literally is what I have taken these words…

So, I don’t want to keep you in further suspense and drag my story like a 3 hour Bollywood movie. I am going to cut this short and tell you my plans for him. Well I have planned it a little unusual as they, the very fact that me being the girl here is quite unusual for few, while it is not the same for me. I believe is equality in every aspect and so it should be in pouring out your feelings as well. And so I have planned to perform on this event which is a theatre performance in a renowned place in my city and with all assistance of my best friend (Aayushi), I am going to go up to the stage and propose to him in front of live audience. This will then be followed by my best friend calling him up on the stage and standing there beside me.I am already freaking out with the idea but as I said when in love; let the world know and so is what I have planned to do.

I am extremely nervous for this and at the same time, waiting to see his reaction, I hope things fall in place like I have planned and that my next Valentine is with him. So yes, this is my way of proposing my crush, which is going up there and getting up close to him and letting my feelings out this Valentine.
